Brazil can be a confusing country when trying to determine when or if summer time is being implemented. Summer time is more commonly referred to as daylight saving time in many other countries.

Each year, summer time starts and ends on different dates. The official dates for summer time to begin and end may only appear 1 week before summer time is scheduled to start.

Decretos sobre o Horário de Verão no Brasil provides official information regarding official start and end dates for summer time.

Summer time can begin anywhere from the beginning of October to the beginning of November. Summer time can end anywhere from early February to early March.

Not all parts of Brazil use summer time. However saying this, there are parts of Brazil that traditionally do not use summer time but may incorporate summer time to save energy if there is an energy shortage.

For the most part, the western half of Brazil and the regions near the equator do not change to summer time.
